The Senior Planner will undertake Borough Planning activities related to the development of affordable housing in Queens and Staten Island. The Senior Planner is responsible for managing, tracking, reporting and ensuring that entitlement and development approval activities are undertaken in a timely, efficient and effective manner.
This position involves assisting planning and policy research and performing analytical work, conducting studies, and coordinating with member governments and planning partners. Specific assignments may include supporting development of trail feasibility studies and administering Regional Trails Program funding; creating municipal environmental planning studies; maintaining regional environmental data; supporting analytical, planning, and policy efforts related to climate change resiliency; and assisting with green stormwater infrastructure projects. Day-to-day tasks include collecting, analyzing and communicating environmental, land use and transportation data, supporting the development of policies and plans, and managing relationships with diverse stakeholders.
