The successful candidate for this position possesses and demonstrates a thorough understanding of a range of experience in multi-disciplinary planning that are integral to planning on the county level. It is essential that the Supervising Planner understand work program management to direct and train staff while managing a core set of projects of their own.
The County of Passaic seeks a Full-Time GIS Specialist / Planner. Responsible to provide Geographic Information Systems (GIS) services to the Department of Planning and Economic Development as well as other County departments. Incumbent will work under the direction of the Planning Director and will be responsible for managing the production of GIS data and services, creating graphics and presentation materials that illustrate data clearly and effectively in technical reporting and presentations with elected officials and the public.
Minimum Bachelor Degree with major coursework in city planning or civil engineering desirable. Minimum 5 years’ zoning and site plan review experience with 3 years in a supervisory capacity. Reporting to the Township Manager, the Director is responsible for the efficient operation of the department and provides support to Zoning Board of Adjustment, Planning Board, Historic Preservation Commission, Economic Development, Shade Tree Advisory Commission, and Environmental Commission.
