The City of Rochester has an opening for a Senior City Planner, working in the Office of City Planning within the Office of the Mayor. The position involves planning and coordinating activities and projects in the implementation of the City’s award-winning Rochester 2034 Comprehensive Plan.

Under the direction of the Director of Freight Planning, the Principal Planner: Freight Planning will be responsible for performing a full range of technical planning, research, analysis, contributions to written materials, and outreach activities in the specialized field of freight and goods movement planning.
The Zoning Official position is located in the Department of Planning & Zoning and is responsible for reviewing all zoning permit applications, making appropriate interpretations based upon a thorough knowledge of the Township Code and issuing or denying permits accordingly. This position will also be responsible for identifying zoning violations and taking necessary enforcement steps including written notifications, issuance of summons and testimony in court.
Under the supervision of the Planning Director, the Assistant Planner/GIS Specialist provides staff support for policy and land use planning activities. Duties include routine municipal planning work including review of development applications, research and analysis of statistical data for planning reports, responding to information requests from residents, government agencies and developers, and attendance at various Township meetings and hearings.
The Supervising Planner – Transportation will be responsible for the implementation of the County’s long term vision for infrastructure investment, transportation and mobility; external relationship building with federal, state, regional local agencies; internal relationship building within the county organization and the Middlesex County Department of Transportation; and oversight of transportation and mobility planning staff and consultants.
