Urban Design

Mission
Increase the visibility of urban design principles and practices and assist the APA-NJ Executive Committee in the review of statewide planning and policy initiatives from an urban design perspective.

Tasks and Programs
1) Host/Sponsor an urban design session at the APA-NJ Annual Conference, as approved by the conference committee 2) Assist the APA-NJ Executive Committee on matters relating to urban design 3) Maintain a centralized source of information on urban design for the APA-NJ membership, e.g. definition and reading material 4) Seek grant funding for projects consistent with the Committee’s mission 5) Pursue potential partnerships with other professional organizations, universities, government agencies and private industry 6) Conduct any other tasks that are consistent with the Committee’s mission.

APA-NJ recognizes that we are fortunate in that New Jersey has an adopted statewide growth management plan – the State Development and Redevelopment Plan – as well as an adopted urban design framework – Designing New Jersey.
