Starts January 12th Ends February 19th

https://rutgers.catalog.cerkit.rutgers.edu/course/display/10904

Learners in this course will gain mastery over the fundamentals of urban design. In this interactive course, learners will use a variety of tools to learn urban design vocabulary, understand key concepts, and the ability to analyze and evaluate design strategies. This is an excellent course for any urban planner or related professional who wants a deeper understanding of physical land use planning issues. Learners will build practical knowledge and skills by applying what they learn to communities of their choice. No previous design or architectural skills are necessary for this class. At the end of the class, learners will be able to assess design proposals more professionally and thoughtfully. This will help them to enhance their work in zoning, community and economic development, transportation planning and virtually any urban planning or policy issue that involves the design of spaces. Since we al! l intuitively understand urban design, and “good” urban design can be subjective, learners are encouraged to share their knowledge and ideas. This course is for anyone interested in urban and community planning. Previous experience in planning is helpful, but not necessary.
