APA Community Assistance Program (CAP) Training Webinar (CM | 1.0)

April 3, 2012 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

FREE

The CAP Training Webinar is intended for professional planners, community organizers, and citizens interested in community planning.

AICP members will gain a more nuanced set of skills related to organizing and participating in community workshops and other public engagement strategies. Viewers will also learn effective ways of participating in public forums by developing new ways of eliciting input and important feedback from residents and stakeholders.

The training module will primarily serve as a primer for Chapters and Divisions interested in starting their own pro bono community assistance programs and for APA members participating in a Community Planning Workshop (held annually at APA’s National Planning Conference) or a Community Planning Assistance Team (CPAT).

The training will include a brief history of APA’s Community Assistance Program, specifically the Community Planning Workshop and the CPAT, and cover different topics associated with participating in and organizing similar events.

Presenters will include:

Wayne Feiden, FAICP
Director of Planning and Development, Northampton, Massachusetts

Michael Blue, FAICP
Director of Community Development, City of Highland Park, Illinois

Deb Meihoff, AICP
Principal and Owner, Communitas, LLC, Portland, Oregon

There is no charge for the webinar.
