This full-time position is responsible for coordinating all administrative and operational tasks related to the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Adjustment and Historic Preservation Commission. Responsibilities include application processing, including monitoring application status, reviews, and ensuring all deadlines are met. Maintain all application files and records. Prepare meeting agendas and supporting documents. Manage the boards’ meeting calendar. May be required to attend evening meetings and to prepare meeting minutes. Assist with the processing professional billing and may be required to monitor application escrow accounts. Handle OPRA (Open Public Records Act) requests and other assigned office duties within the Planning Division. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently. Candidate must possess strong communication skills and maintain working relationships with Board professionals, city staff, developers and the public. Must have a solid understanding of land use regulations and procedures. Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects and deadlines. Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication, proofreading, and necessary computer skills and knowledge. Municipal experience in land use preferred. Rutgers Certificate for Planning/Zoning Board Secretary is preferred or ability to obtain within a year. The City of Trenton offers an excellent benefits package.
