The Township of Wayne, a dynamic suburban community with a population of 55,000, seeks a full time Assistant Planner in the Planning and Zoning Department. The Assistant Planner will be responsible for helping to manage the review process of applications to the Planning Board and Board of Adjustment, assist with long-range planning efforts, review and assist with amendments to the Land Development Ordinance. Will collect, compile, and prepare data and maps to assist the department with its projects and applications. Will manage and maintain documents for ease of reference, along with other tasks as assigned.
Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in urban planning and one year of responsible professional experience in municipal, county, regional, or state planning, OR Graduation from a four-year course at an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in planning and a minimum of two years of responsible professional experience in municipal, county, regional, or state planning, OR Graduation from a four-year course at an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least three years of responsible professional experience in municipal, county, regional or state planning.
Possession of a current and valid license as a professional planner in New Jersey issued by the State Board of Professional Planners, OR Currently valid certification as a Planner-in-Training issued by the New Jersey State Board of Professional Planners, or the ability to obtain such within one year of hire.
Starting Salary: $43,741-$92,795
