On November 3, 2020, New Jersey voters approved New Jersey Public Question 1, an amendment to the State constitution to legalize the recreational use of cannabis by people ages 21 and older, with 67% voting yes and 33% voting no. In 2021, 70% of municipalities voted to opt out of allowing cannabis in their city or town. Yet, most of these municipalities are expected to opt in in the near future. Why?
Why was the opt out rate by municipalities so high after the majority of New Jerseyans voted “yes”?

For answers to these questions and much more, please join ULI Northern New Jersey's Women's Leadership Initiative on February 24, 2022 for the first in a series of ULI NNJ timely programs covering what's happening now and what's next for the Garden State in the cannabis industry. Topics will include an introduction to the recreational cannabis industry highlighting national best practices and highlight N.J's unique position within the cannabis space. This session will be a rare opportunity to get on the inside track from subject matter experts since there have been many barriers to getting good, relevant information disseminated in a timely manner.
