Webinar: Community Mobility (CM | 1.5)

January 13, 2012 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

By the year 2030, oil’s scarcity, cost, and environmental damage may make its use as transport fuel the exception rather than the rule. While long-distance movement of people and goods has its own challenges that high speed rail, alternative fuels and modal shifts must address, this presentation looks at movements within a community. What will 2030 look like if we shift from a local transportation system that is overwhelmingly dominated by the private vehicle, to a scenario dominated by community mobility? The webcast participant will get a glimpse of twenty years into the future for what can be done to see how to provide mobility in our communities. Five modes of local transportation are presented: walking, bicycling, sharing public vehicles, sharing private vehicles, and driving.
