Increasingly young workers and baby boomers alike are leaving the suburbs for higher density mixed use areas with easily accessible public transportation. This renewed interest in living and working in urban areas is helping to drive an economic boom in some of New Jersey’s cities. Trenton however, continues to face challenges despite its prime location with transportation infrastructure and natural resource. What strategies are needed to stimulate economic development and attract a talented workforce to New Jersey’s struggling cities?

Tom Murphy, Senior Resident Fellow, Urban Land Institute and former Mayor of Pittsburgh will share the steps he took in turning Pittsburgh around. A panel of New Jersey experts will discuss strategies appropriate for New Jersey cities and representatives from Trenton will elaborate on their vision and plans for their city.
