Does the New Normal Impact the Old Ethics? (CM Ethics | 1.5)

February 1, 2013 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Since the 2005 adoption of the AICP Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct, the great recession has had a huge impact on the planning profession and the communities we work for. In the new normal, budgets are tight, economic development is scarce and new development projects are slow to arrive. New pressure from elected officials and city managers to reduce fees, regulations and process to make it easier to attract development may or may not be consistent with the Principles espoused by the Code of Ethics, much less the Rules of Conduct. This interactive session will engage participants in dialogue about the pressures we are facing in our jobs on a day to day basis and how to align our response with the AICP Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
