Bridging the Gap: How planners and communities can work together

The purpose of the workshop is to “bridge the gap” between planners and community based organizations (CBOs). The workshop will provide a platform for CBOs to better understand the role of city and regional planners in community development, and acquire access to information that can help them become strong and sustainable entities within their target populations. It will also give planners an opportunity to learn more about CBO’s, what they do, and their needs.

HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:

  • Lunchtime speaker Governor Jim Florio
  • Presentations from CBOs that have used planning to advance their work (Michael Powell, NJCDC; Allie Ries, La Casa de Don Pedro, Rosemary Nwadueze, Women Rising)
  • Panel Discussion – “How to Find Planners and the Resources to Pay for Them”. (Representatives from Together North Jersey, Rutgers University, DCA, NJTPA, APA-NJ)
  • One-on-one discussions with planning experts from throughout the State.
  • Each participant receives a NJ Planning Resource Guide.

Sponsored by:  The American Planning Association - New Jersey Chapter, Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, Together North Jersey, Housing and Community Development Network of New Jersey and the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.
