The Westchester County Department of Planning offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced regional planner to join our team. Help shape growth and development within the county, while addressing issues like affordability, equity and natural resource protection. Work with state and federal agencies, local municipalities and community stakeholders to create more sustainable and resilient places. Play a key role in a growing department serving a region at the crossroads of social, environmental, and infrastructure issues.
This position coordinates and directs technical planning, research and evaluative studies for major program areas in the Department of Planning and must exercise a considerable amount of independent judgment in applying departmental policy and procedure. This position directs and supervises the work of a number of technical and professional positions and teams, consultants and contract employees; provides assistance in conducting research, performing analysis, preparing and presenting reports and responding to inquiries and requests.
Familiarity with New York State municipal and environmental law strongly desired. Excellent analytical, writing, communication, and presentation skills required. Bachelor’s degree in City, Urban or Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Civil Engineering or a related area of Planning with a minimum of five years post bachelor’s experience required, at least three of which must have been in a supervisory capacity. Master’s Degree and AICP preferred.
