The Montclair Center Business Improvement District (BID), also operating as a Destination Marketing Organization (DMO), is seeking a dynamic and collaborative Executive Director to serve as the chief executive officer of one of New Jersey’s most vibrant downtown districts. Montclair is known for its strong arts scene, diverse dining and retail mix, and active community, and the BID plays a key role in supporting local businesses and enhancing the overall downtown experience.
Reporting to the BID Board of Directors, the Executive Director will oversee day-to-day operations, including district services, beautification efforts, marketing and promotional initiatives, event programming, financial management, and stakeholder engagement. The position requires a highly visible, hands-on leader who can work effectively with business owners, property owners, Township officials, and community partners while advancing the BID’s strategic goals.
Qualified candidates should have a bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred) and at least five to seven years of leadership experience in downtown management, economic development, nonprofit management, or a related field, along with strong communication, organizational, and financial management skills.
Salary range is $120,000 to $150,000, commensurate with experience, with a comprehensive benefits package.
