Description

The Clerical Planning Assistant will provide comprehensive administrative support to the Planning and Zoning Department in the Township of Wall.

Job Title: Clerical Planning Assistant
Department: Department Planning and Zoning
Reports to: Director of Planning and Zoning
Classification: Non-Exempt, Part Time

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist the public through written, telephone, and face-to-face correspondence in filing land use applications and answering general land use questions.
  • Organize, manage, and maintain land use files in compliance with the NJ Destruction of Public Records Act.
  • Complete Open Public Records Requests.
  • Complete and email or mail form letters.
  • Confirm paperwork submitted to the Land Use Office by applicants is filled out completely and includes all required supplemental documents.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with coworkers to assist in the land use planning process including collating and distributing applications, scanning documents, and digitally and physically filing them.
  • Occasionally attend Zoning and/or Planning Board meetings as Acting Board Secretary during meetings when Board Secretary is absent.
  • Assist Planner and Assistant Planner with field inspections to ensure compliance with approved plans.
  • Perform other related tasks as required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 software with the desire and ability to learn additional computer programs.
  • Ability to work with the public in a professional, polite, and accommodating manner.
  • Ability to work as part of a cohesive team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred.

Salary:

  • $18.00 per hour.

Additional Information:
The desired schedule for this part-time position is Monday through Friday, not to exceed 28 hours per week. While a consistent weekday schedule is preferred, some flexibility may be considered for the right candidate.
