Acuity Consulting Services, LLC, a multidisciplinary planning and program administration firm based in New Jersey, seeks a full-time Professional Planner to join our growing team. The position provides the opportunity to work on a wide range of public and private sector planning and program administration projects.   • Fully remote position.
  • AICP certification required, and New Jersey Professional Planner’s license preferred.
  • Representative tasks include, but are not limited to: Preparation of planning analyses and reports, project management for a subset of projects and clients, preparing/updating housing program manuals, program forms and related documentation (using templates), regulatory analysis using existing and new regulations, corresponding with clients to answer questions and provide updates, participation in virtual and in-person meetings, preparation of housing program reporting and compliance documentation, oversight affordable housing planning and program projects and tasks, and other planning and program administration tasks. The work will cover a variety of topics and planning subdisciplines, including land use, housing, economic development, resiliency, sustainability, environmental, open space, transportation, and other topics/subdisciplines.
  • This full-time position provides 40 hours of work per week. General availability during the 9am-5pm time frame is required in order to accommodate client meetings; however, if no client meetings are scheduled, there is substantial flexibility in terms of the time of day that work could be completed.
  • Five or more years of planning experience is required.
  • While the vast majority of meetings are virtual and occur during the 9am – 5pm time frame, attendance at in-person meetings during the day and evening is required. With respect to in-person meetings, while they are relatively infrequent, covering meetings throughout New Jersey is required, as needed. In particular, meeting coverage in central and northern New Jersey is required.
  • The candidate must have experience covering client and municipal meetings independently, including demonstrated proficiency in providing professional presentations, answering questions, and related items during meetings.
  • Familiarity with key New Jersey regulations including the Municipal Land Use Law, Local Redevelopment and Housing Law, and affordable housing regulations is required.
  • Excellent written communication skills for preparing planning reports and related deliverables are required. Writing samples are required for review and consideration.
  • Excellent oral communication skills and an ability to consistently provide excellent customer service via written and verbal communication is required.
  • Proficiency using the various software and web applications needed for remote work and day-to-day work on projects, such as Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace applications, Zoom and/or other virtual meeting platforms, etc. is required.
  • At least two years of project management experience is preferred.
  • Experience with affordable housing planning and a working knowledge of the typical regulatory and program requirements for housing is preferred.
  • The position is fully remote, but includes regular communication with team members and the opportunity to participate in periodic in-person staff meetings and events.
  • The position is hourly and offers a range of $40-$53 per hour (approximately $83,200 to $110,240 per year), commensurate with experience.
  • The position would be subject to an initial ninety (90) day contract period after which time, depending on work performance, the contract may be renewed indefinitely or for an amount of time to be determined prior to contract expiration.
