DESCRIPTION:REGISTER NOW\nAbout the Creative Placemaking Leadership Summit: \nIt’s informative and enjoyable.  You can learn a lot\, and meet other people like you who want to engage the power of arts and culture to enhance communities.  You can also meet people from different fields or areas who can help inspire you and help you be more creative.  You can share what you’ve learned. \nThe Creative Placemaking Leadership Summit is one of the largest gatherings of people involved in the intersection of arts\, culture\, community improvement\, and local economic development.  In 2014\, it attracted more than 250 people.  They included public and elected officials\, leaders of community based organizations\, developers\, urban planners\, and leaders of cultural organizations and\, of course\, artists. \nThe 2014 Leadership Summit got rave reviews.  Everyone surveyed said they enjoyed the event.  Almost everyone said they learned a lot and got useful information.  We’re planning to make the 2016 program even better. \nThe  Summit is produced by The National Consortium for Creative Placemaking and a wide variety of partners. \nAbout Creative Placemaking: \nCreative placemaking is a new way to make communities more livable and prosperous. It’s more than doing events\, creating arts districts or building cultural centers.  It builds connections among people\, issues and the arts.  The arts offer powerful tools to enhance quality of life for individuals\, communities and societies.  Creative placemaking helps practitioners hone their skills and engage the arts more effectively.  Learn more about creative placemaking \nAbout The National Consortium for Creative Placemaking: \nThe National Consortium for Creative Placemaking builds connections\, capacity and community for better creative placemaking.  Through the Creative Placemaking Leadership Summit\, Community Coaching\, and other activities\, we: \n\n\nHelp build local climates that are more open to creativity\, diversity and new ideas \n\n\nMotivate people who rarely speak to one another to work together \n\n\nInspire stakeholders to generate creative ideas for their communities – and take responsibility for making them happen \n\n\nRespect the values and distinct qualities of local communities \n\n\nHelp stakeholders become more creative and adaptable when faced with difficult challenges \n\n\nDevelop high-performing teams for community enhancement through arts and culture \n\n\nEngage key influences and levers of influence at local\, county and state levels \n\n\nPromote civil dialogue and intercultural collaboration – and help stakeholders build their skills to lead inclusive collaborations

SUMMARY:Create A Place Conference: Arts Build Communities (CM | 4.5)
DESCRIPTION:Create A Place: Arts Build Communities is the second annual statewide conference aimed at building\, advancing and sustaining creative communities and art centered economies. It is the only major event in New Jersey that brings together urban planners and public affairs professionals along with artists\, cultural leaders\, elected and appointed officials\, as well as community and economic development experts to share ideas and best practices in the emerging field of creative placemaking. \nCreate A Place focuses on six key issues in creative placemaking: \n*Developing leadership for action \n*Measuring your community’s capacity for creative placemaking \n*Building strategies for action \n*Providing direct and indirect support for the arts \n*Building creative communities \n*Building creative economies \nThis ground-breaking conference features panel discussions in which experts share their experiences and peer coaching sessions that allow participants to learn from one another. \nThe Honorable Cory A. Booker\, Mayor of the City of Newark (NJ) will be the special guest speaker. Carol Coletta\, Director of ArtPlace\, who is known for developing cities and creative communities\, will be the keynote speaker at the conference.
