DESCRIPTION:REGISTER NOW\nInterested in learning the ins and outs of implementing transit supportive and transit-oriented development in your community? Want to learn more about funding opportunities and available resources? Then register for the NJTPA’s Transit Supportive Development Forum!The free event will be held on Tuesday\, May 24th\, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.\, at New Jersey Institute of Technology’s Campus Center Ballroom\, 2nd Floor. \nTransit Oriented Development (TOD) seeks to create vibrant communities with compact\, walkable\, mixed-use development centered on rail or bus transit systems. Transit Supportive Development (TSD) is a more general policy approach integrating regional transit investment with local land use. It is applicable to communities that may not yet have extensive transit service but seek to create denser\, more walkable areas conducive to future transit expansion and TOD. \nThe forum is a perfect opportunity for elected municipal and county officials\, as well as anyone interested in transit supportive development\, to learn best practices and hear success stories from those who have made such development happen in their communities.Participants will learn about the process of TOD/TSD planning and implementation\, available resources\, financial mechanisms and more. Featured speakers will include experienced municipalities\, federal and state grant and incentive providers and developers experienced in bundling public and private financial resources. \nRegistration deadline extended to May 18th.  There is no charge for the event.
