Senior Planner (Cape May County)

The Cape May County Planning Department is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Senior Planner. Under the direction of the Planning Director, the successful candidate will perform the more complex technical planning work for the development of county planning studies and documents, analyzing and developing policy proposals, and conducting detailed reviews of land development applications. Collection and analysis of data, maintenance of records, preparation of reports and maps on a variety of planning-related topics, and presentations on findings to County officials and the general public will be a part of the day-to-day responsibilities of the selected individual.

Requirements: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree including or supplemented by 21 semester hour credits in professional planning or related subjects is required. A minimum of two years of experience in municipal, county, regional, or state planning is desired. Possession of a current and valid license as a professional planner in New Jersey issued by the New Jersey Board of Professional Planners is required. Certification by the American Institute of Certified Planners is highly desired, as is experience with Geographic Information Systems. Possession of a Master’s degree in Planning from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one (1) year of indicated experience.

The appointee will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in the State of New Jersey, and must be able to complete site inspections and field visits, as needed.
