Planner (Sullivan County, NY)

Sullivan County is seeking both entry level and senior planning and grants professionals to join a team providing leadership and technical assistance to the County and its 21 constituent municipalities. Sullivan is a diverse rural county within a 2 hour drive from New York City and is undergoing rapid change as, according to Fodors, “the Catskills Mountains are suddenly one of the hottest destinations in Upstate New York” and “the region’s capital of cool.” The openings in the County’s Planning Division offer meaningful opportunities to address critical housing needs, enhance and expand public facilities including parks and trails, remediate blight and revitalize historic downtowns, improve climate resilience and sustainability, and help small communities navigate new challenges and guide new growth. The Division provides staff support to the Sullivan County Land Bank Corporation and will be implementing a new housing trust fund in 2023. Some positions are competitive class subject to the civil service examination process.
