Executive Director (Pioneer Valley Planning Commission)

The Pioneer Valley Planning Commission (PVPC) is seeking applications from highly qualified candidates for the position of Executive Director. The PVPC is a state-designated regional planning agency responsible for 43 cities and towns, nearly 1200 square miles of land area and a population of over 630,000 situated in midwestern Massachusetts 100 miles west of Boston. PVPC provides a wide array of planning programs and services including land use, transportation, housing, environmental quality, community development, clean energy, historic preservation, economic development and municipal shared services, among others. In addition, the PVPC offers GIS mapping and data compilation/analysis capabilities. As the principal leader of the agency, the Executive Director is responsible for maintaining and enhancing PVPC’s organizational effectiveness while, simultaneously, pursuing its core mission and maintaining PVPC’s reputation as a trusted, professional regional resource and partner.

Position requires, at a minimum, a college degree in planning, public administration or related field and 15 or more years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree is strongly preferred. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience with the normal starting salary anticipated in the $145,000 to $160,000 range. Starting date is negotiable but anticipated in the fall of 2019. Review of applications will begin by March of 2019 and continue until the position is filled.
