The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC), in cooperation with the Kent Conservation District, a governmental subdivision of the State of Delaware, seek an Environmental Scientist II to work with DNREC’s Division of Climate, Coastal & Energy’s Climate & Sustainability Section.
This position serves as a technical resource for local governments in land use planning, sustainability, and climate change resiliency. This individual will promote strategies for natural resource conservation and climate change at the local government level. Specific duties include: reviewing draft comprehensive plans, ordinances, and proposed development projects through the Preliminary Land Use Service, coordinating agency-wide comments for site-specific requirements and recommendations relating to conservation of the state’s soil and water resources, flooding, water quality, and wetlands; leading monthly meetings; and providing written comments in a timely manner. The position will also collaborate with sustainability practitioners through the Resilient and Sustainable Communities League and will provide support for the Sustainable Communities Planning Grant Program.
