New Garden Township, Chester County, PA, is seeking an experienced and professional department director to join the Township’s Management Team as Director of Planning and Zoning. This hands-on management position reports directly to the Township Manager and partners closely with a five (5) member Board of Supervisors, Planning Commission, Zoning Hearing Board, department heads, administrative staff, consultants, attorneys, and the public.
This position is responsible for the Township’s current and long-range planning functions including land development, property maintenance, zoning, open space preservation and respective administrative duties. The position serves as the appointed Zoning Officer and is the staff coordinator for the Township Planning Commission, Zoning Hearing Board and Open Space Committee. Work involves technical and administrative duties managing staff dedicated to the building code processes, planning and zoning. This position coordinates closely with the appointed Township Engineer and appointed BCO as well as the Codes Enforcement and Fire Marshal officials.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Urban Studies, or related field with at least five (5) to seven (7) years of related progressively responsible professional experience and/or training is required.
- AICP certification preferred.
- Master’s degree preferred.
Expected salary hiring range is $90,000 – $110,000, dependent on qualifications and experience.
