Director of Community Development

The Twp. of Hamilton is seeking a full-time Director of Community Development (DCD). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: serving as the technical advisor to the Mayor and Committee, Planning and Zoning Boards; receives and reviews plans for conformity planning and design principles; studies land development; recommends and assists in the preparation of amendments to the Land Use Code and Master Plan as necessary; coordinates with contracted professionals regarding Township planning and development matters; represents the Township as its liaison with regional, state, and federal agencies including Census Bureau, DCA, DEP, COAH, and Pinelands; serves as the Municipal Housing Liaison; plans, organizes, and directs planning and promotional activities involved in the economic development of the Township; maintains records concerning specifications and pertinent information on available sites for prospective developers. This position also has supervisory responsibilities for the Construction Code/Housing Maintenance/Fire Prevention Divisions. Must have exceptional customer service and communication skills. Must have the ability to lead and have demonstrated managerial experience. Valid New Jersey driver’s license required. Bachelor’s degree in planning, engineering, land use, or a related field required. Graduate degree and/or Professional Planner certification preferred. Must have five (5) years related experience. Experience with New Jersey Land Use and Affordable Housing regulations preferred. Attendance at all regularly scheduled Township Committee meetings required. Excellent benefit package.
