Assistant Planner (Cumberland County)

Duties: Under direction of the Department Head, assists in the development of land use plans for municipal, county and regional land areas; conducts surveys in an area and gathers and interprets information; prepares maps representing existing and proposed land use and other data for submission or presentation; assists in the coordination and administration of planning programs and activities; designs and prepares charts representing land use planning data; assists in designing and drafting proposals and preparing graphic information. Bilingual preferred.

Requirements: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree including or supplemented by 21 semester hour credits in professional planning subjects. One year of professional experience in municipal, county, regional, or state planning. Ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Possession of a valid New Jersey driver’s license. Possession of a current and valid credential as a Certified Planner issued by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) may be substituted for the educational requirement. Possession of a Master’s degree in Planning from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of indicated experience.

Starting Salary: $33,258 – $37, 401
