The Monmouth County Division of Planning has two Assistant Planner positions available for qualified candidates.
The first planning position is with the County’s Agricultural Preservation Program. Duties include working with state and local official on farmland acquisition, monitoring farms for program compliance, coordinating right-to-farm hearings before the Monmouth County Agriculture Development Board, drafting reports of findings for such hearings, implementing recommendations as prescribed in the Agriculture and Economic Development Element of the new Monmouth County Master Plan, and working with county’s Office of Economic Development in furthering local agricultural sustainability through our Grown in Monmouth program. The candidate sought for this position will have a strong interest or background in farming, agricultural business retention, and sustainability issues. S/he will possess excellent organization and communication skills, proficiency with GIS and Microsoft Office Suite, ability to present before public agencies, and report preparation.
The second planning position is with the Strategic and Long Range Planning section. Duties include conducting research and analysis for the preparation of special reports and studies, providing technical and professional assistance to other county departments and agencies, working with local officials and community stakeholders in the advancement of preferable land uses and community outcomes, and implementing recommendations outlined in the new Monmouth County Master Plan. This position includes working to advance the County’s community rating system program, assisting cultural and arts organizations as part of the MoCo Arts Corridor initiative, and advancing sustainable agricultural and economic development. This planner will also provide broad based assistance as needed to other Division of Planning sections such as land development review, environment and sustainability, transportation, community development, and GIS. The candidate sought for this position will have a strong interest or background in regional planning, community stakeholder engagement, and sustainable approaches to planning. S/he will possess excellent organizations, communication, and writing skills, proficiency with GIS, Microsoft Office Suite, and graphic programs such as Adobe Illustrator, and the ability to present before public agencies.
