The first meet-up for the City Planner Book Club will be on Thursday, June 28 from 6pm to 7:30. The location will be Burp Castle in NYC. For more information on this venue, please see below. Our respective Chapters, (APA-NJ and APA-NY Metro) will be advertising these meet-ups shortly via web blasts to general membership.
Please let us know what your availability will be for June 28 between 6-7:30pm.
Important Note for NJ: We chose the location based on survey results that showed most participants in NYC or North Jersey. If I receive enough feeback from New Jersey residents stating it would be more convenient to host a location in Central/North Jersey, we’ll move forward appropriately.
Burp Castle is an old English gentleman-style pub serving craft beer. Its low-key, intentionally quiet atmosphere makes for pleasant conversation. It is located at 41 East 7th Street, between 2nd and 3rd Avenues in the East Village (located half a block from Cooper Union on the same block as McSorley’s and Jimmy’s No. 43). When you come upon a white-painted iron fence, you have found it.
Subway: 6 train to Astor Place, N/R to 8th Street-NYU. Also L train to 3rd Avenue/14th Street or F train to 2nd Avenue/Houston Street
PATH: 9th Street Station (walk 1/2 mile east)
