The following letter was developed by APA-NJ’s Transportation Committee and sent to New Jersey’s congressional delegation in Washington, D.C. in response to HR 7 and MAP-21.

COALITION OF PLANNING ADVOCATES CALLS FOR AMENDMENTS TO NJ ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BILL
The New Jersey Assembly will be considering passage of a bill (A4306) that, in its current form, will undermine the goals of the State’s Urban Transit Hub Tax Credit (UTHTC) program and weaken the state’s long-term economic competitiveness.

Grow New Jersey Assistance Program
APA-NJ supports the Urban Transit Hub Tax credit program, and its goal of bringing businesses and investment to our urban areas. We also support the re-use of underutilized spaces, such as vacant corporate office parks, as an alternative to greenfield development. But we do not support efforts to water down one of the few truly urban development incentive programs in the state to apply funds to projects that are neither urban nor near transit.
